Preview of things to come

Just for the hell of it, and because I'm procrastinating, I thought I'd list out a few of the shows/worlds/environments that I plan on writing about. This also serves to act as a checklist of items in case I forget. I'll include some hints of what is to come in each one where possible.

  • Supernatural
    • Introduction of the character of Azrael, another Archangel who appears around the time that Castiel tries to bring order to Heaven. He later becomes a key player in the battle against Metatron. This storyline ignores the throwaway line that Azrael died in the fall of the angels. As an aside, I was developing my storyline before the Fall happened in the series. I had picked Azrael initially because they hadn't used him yet, but it became a key element in the development of the story.
    • Takes place during the current season (9) and introduces a hunter by the name of James Warren (might change) who brings some new philosophies to the hunter lifestyle.
  • Doctor Who
    • Introduces the 26th Doctor, yes 26th, who isn't entirely what he seems. He also has a penchant for crossing "his" time stream, as well as universes as he continues his search for Gallifrey.
  • Almost Human
    • A formerly retired cop comes back to look into the actions and escape of Dr. Nigel Vaughn, with some insights on the Synthetic Soul program.
  • Grimm/Lost Girl
    • I came up with characters called "Grendals", but toyed with the idea in both universes. Not sure which one I like better.
  • Dexter
    • I had some storylines, but now that the series is over, not sure if I will pursue them.

There were some others, but can't think of them off the top of my head. I'll add them later.

Excelsior!
Spoon!
Allonsy!
Geronimo!

Dang, I really need my own motto.

It Was A Dark And Stormy Night

I thought this "blog" deserved a preface to set the tone of what I hope to achieve. For a long time I've made up stories in my head, some were original, and some were extension of existing settings and universes. I spent the time to create elaborate scenarios in my mind, but no time to preserve them or write them down, allowing them to become lost to time. Ok, I don't have any illusions that anything I conjure up will ever be culturally significant, but I do feel some disappointment at the thought of an idea that is not expressed or realized.

The idea behind this is to treat it less like a blog and more like an anthology of short stories, with perhaps the occasional comment. It will become a catch-all for not just my ideas, but for fully explored stories. Think of them as episodes of a TV series, which makes perfect sense since many will no doubt be based on existing TV shows and movies, hence the "Fanfic" implication in the name of the blog. I'm not super happy about the name, but I had to settle on something and move on.

fan·fic [fan-fik]
noun Informal.

1. fiction written by fans of a TV series, movie, etc., using existing characters and situations to develop new plots.

2. a work of fiction in this genre.

Who knows, maybe it will attract the attention of somebody from a network, studio, or publisher (probably because they mistyped something in Google), and be interested in hiring me as a writer...or it may languish as do several of my other blogging attempts. Wish me luck.

For God's sake, let us sit upon the ground
And tell sad stories of the death of kings;
How some have been deposed; some slain in war,
Some haunted by the ghosts they have deposed;
Some poison'd by their wives: some sleeping kill'd;
All murder'd: for within the hollow crown
That rounds the mortal temples of a king

- William Shakespeare, King Richard II
